The diesel filter element is the first protective barrier for the fuel system of excavator engines,divided into two categories:**coarse filter(oil-water separator)**and**fine filter(fine filter)**.Most common rail models at or above the national level use two-stage filtration.The coarse filter is responsible for removing water and filtering large particulate impurities,while the fine filter performs high-precision fine filtration to jointly protect high-precision components such as high-pressure Oil Pumps and injectors.

　　Diesel flows out of the fuel tank and first undergoes oil-water separation and coarse filtration.Based on the principle of coalescence,free water in the diesel is collected into water droplets and settled in a water collecting cup.Then,it is filtered through multiple layers of composite filter materials to intercept small solid particles such as rust,sand,and gum,and the clean diesel is transported to the high-pressure fuel pump.Common rail engines have extremely high requirements for diesel cleanliness,with a general fine filter accuracy of 2-5 microns.Small impurities and moisture can strain the plunger and needle valve,causing damage to thousands or tens of thousands of fuel injectors.

　　The structure is divided into rotary assembly type and paper core internal filter type,mainly including shell,multi-layer filter materials,central support skeleton,and sealing rubber ring;The oil-water separation model has a drain plug at the bottom.Diesel also provides lubrication and cooling to the fuel pump and injectors.Once the filter element fails,impurities and moisture directly enter the fuel system.

　　The quality of diesel at mining sites varies greatly,and the filter clogging speed is faster;The high moisture content in humid environments increases the burden on oil-water separators.Diesel filter faults do not directly report fault codes.Typical symptoms include difficulty starting in cold conditions,insufficient power under heavy loads,stalling,idle shaking,and black smoke emissions.Many machine owners choose inferior filter elements to save costs,which ultimately leads to damage to the entire high-pressure oil pump and fuel injector.The repair cost is tens or hundreds of times higher than that of the filter element.
