Damaged Oil Pump does not directly report a separate fault code, and the fault symptoms are mostly indirectly reflected. Many operators mistakenly believe it is a problem with the bearing and oil, ignoring the oil pump itself.Learning to identify signs of oil pump failure and accurately grasp the timing of replacement can prevent catastrophic damage to the engine.Once the oil pressure warning light on the dashboard lights up,the machine must be stopped immediately for troubleshooting, and forced operation is strictly prohibited.
The most typical phenomenon is abnormal oil pressure. The oil pressure during cold start is normal, but after the engine is warmed up,the idle oil pressure decreases significantly.Increasing the throttle pressure slightly increases, and after ruling out insufficient oil viscosity and low oil level,it is highly likely that the internal rotor and gears of the oil pump will wear out,the clearance will increase, and sufficient oil pressure will not be established. In some cases, the cold car pressure may also be low, which could be due to clogged filters or severe wear on the oil pump.
Next, listen to the abnormal noise inside the engine.Insufficient oil supply and lack of lubrication for crankshaft and connecting rod bearings can result in dull"clacking, clacking"metal knocking noises. If the abnormal noise continues to operate,it will burn the tile and hold the shaft in a short time.Pay attention to distinguishing between valve abnormal noise and bearing shell abnormal noise with insufficient lubrication, which is loud and varies significantly with the speed.
Also, check for physical damage to the oil pump body. After disassembling the engine, observe the oil pump, gears or rotor for wear, scratches, gear breakage, and cracks; The pump body shell is worn and has grooves; If the valve core of the pressure limiting valve is stuck or the spring is fatigued and broken, and any of the above situations occur, the oil pump must be replaced directly. It is not recommended to continue using it after simple repair. The oil pump is a precision component, and it is difficult to restore the original factory fit clearance after wear and tear.
Some easily confused faults need to be distinguished.Low oil pressure does not necessarily indicate damage to the oil pump.Blockage of the Oil filter element, blockage of the oil collection filter by sludge, excessive clearance between the bearing shells, and incorrect oil grade can also trigger pressure alarms. The troubleshooting sequence is to first check the quality of the oil level, inspect the strainer, and then determine the quality of the oil pump.
Remember, the oil pressure alarm is a high-risk fault,do not short-circuit the alarm light and work recklessly.Even a brief lack of oil can cause irreversible damage to the crankshaft and bearing shells. As long as it is confirmed that the oil pump is worn, stuck,or the housing is damaged,it should be replaced in a timely manner.Do not wait for the engine shaft to undergo major repairs before dealing with it,and minimize the loss caused by the malfunction.
