Damaged Water Pumps do not report a separate fault code, and the fault symptoms are indirectly reflected. Many operators mistakenly attribute water pump faults to problems with the water tank or thermostat, and repeatedly clean the water tank to maintain high water temperature.Learn to identify fault symptoms, accurately grasp the timing of replacement, and avoid destructive damage such as cylinder gasket flushing and pulling in the engine.Once a water temperature alarm occurs, the machine should be stopped immediately for troubleshooting, and it is strictly prohibited to continue working forcefully.
The most obvious phenomenon is the abnormal high temperature of the engine. The exterior of the water tank is clean and the thermostat is working properly, but the engine water temperature is rapidly increasing, which is more pronounced under high load conditions.Open the water tank cover and observe that the coolant circulation is weak in idle state. After refueling, the water flow changes very little, most likely due to corrosion and wear of the water pump impeller, slipping, and insufficient coolant circulation flow.To rule out other factors such as water tank blockage and inability to open the thermostat before determining the water pump malfunction.
Next, observe the leakage of the drain hole. The continuous dripping of coolant from the bottom drain hole of the water pump indicates that the internal water seal has worn out and failed.A small amount of dripping can be observed in the short term, but if the dripping flow rate increases,it must be replaced immediately. If water leakage is ignored and the coolant continues to flow,it will cause water shortage and high temperature on the one hand, and on the other hand, the coolant will seep into the bearings, causing the bearings to rust and lock up,and the pulleys to directly get stuck and break.
Listen to the front-end noise again. The internal bearings of the water pump are worn and damaged, causing a buzzing and rustling friction noise during operation, which increases with the increase of speed.Shaking the pulley by hand,if there is obvious radial clearance,it indicates that the bearing clearance exceeds the standard.Severe damage to bearings can result in jamming, directly causing Belt breakage and instant loss of heat dissipation capability.
After disassembly, check the main body for rust on the impeller, erosion of teeth, corrosion pits in the pump body cavity, and cracking of the pump body.In any of the above situations, the water pump must be replaced as a whole, and it is not recommended to replace the water seal separately for maintenance. In some cases,if the belt slips,it may be mistaken that the water pump is damaged, and it is necessary to distinguish between belt failure and water pump body failure.
Remember not to work while sick.If the water pump malfunctions and construction continues,it will cause serious damage to the engine in a short period of time.As long as there is water seal leakage, large bearing displacement, impeller wear,or pump body cracking,it should be replaced in a timely manner.Do not wait for the engine to be scrapped at high temperatures before processing, and keep losses to a minimum.
